For those of you unfamiliar with this race, we’ve put together alumni boats to race in the Head of the Schuylkill for the past few years. It’s always a lot of fun and a great way to meet new alumni or reconnect with old friends.
The following is a message from Albert Bowers, our perennial race organizer:
Right, so, registration has opened for the Head of the Schuylkill. It’s still over 2 months away, but we’ve gotten a fair amount of new interest and I know that some of those who rowed with us before already know that they’re going to be otherwise engaged during race weekend. Plus we’ve got to make sure we’ve got a boat and everything else. So let’s get it started.
Who’s in for this years Schuylkill? Men’s open club eights race on Saturday 10/24 and all master’s events are raced on Sunday 10/25. If there were sufficient interest we could field boats on both days. Likely it would still be best to try to get in a practice on the Friday. E-mail me as soon as possible and let me know if you’re in or out and, in general, if you’re in good health.
Also, if you know anybody from the team who might be interested in rowing, who I have not included on this list, please forward them the e-mail. I know Jeff Hreben is interested, but I don’t have his contact info. It would be great if we could get some of the newer alums into a boat if possible. So, if anyone (perhaps Chris Quintos) is capable of passing on this e-mail to them, that would be great.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
-Albert A. Bowers BA ’01
